didds loves... nail polish

Until fairly recently, I was never a girly girl. I was always in jeans and sneakers. I wasn't into makeup (not much has changed on that front), and never went to nail salons. I rarely got my nails done or painted them myself and for the most part I groomed my own eyebrows, save for the occasional wax to reshape them. After I graduated from college, that all changed. I was wearing sandals instead of flip flops, tanks and halter tops, and even the occasional skirt or dress. I started going to get my nails done with my ace, and fell in love with all the colors and designs. After a while I didn't really like getting the acrylic nails anymore, they left my nails brittle and I like my nails short anyway so I didn't see the point of wasting my money. After my nails grew out from the acrylic damage I started painting them myself. So began my love affair with nail polish. In the summer and spring I'm all about bright colors, you know, the pinks and blues and yellows. And in the fall obviously I lean toward the darker colors like dark blue, burgundy, and black.

I had been using the little cheapie NYC nail polishes because, well, they were cheap. But those shits peeled and chipped about 10 minutes after they dried and I was over buying a bunch of cheap colors when I could get a good one that would last longer. To test my theory, I stepped it up to Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure and Nicole by OPI. They last so much longer and I found that instead of chipping they fade at the tips. I'm okay with some fading because it's not as obvious as chipped polish. After I was sold on these better brands, I went back to Target with some friends and I found the best polish I've ever seen. I love it and wear it all the damn time.

This is Commander in Chic by Sally Hansen. The picture is actually a pretty good representation of what it looks like in person. It's a grayish purple, and I love it so much I want to paint my room this color. I like the look of rhinestones on the ring finger, but these aren't my top choice so I'm still looking for a better pack. I'm definitely not taking them off though, it took too damn long to put them on. Unfortunately I'm not ambidextrous so I couldn't do my right hand, but I'm visiting my ace this weekend and what are friends for if not to rhinestone a fingernail for you? She has some pretty fly nail designs herself, maybe she'll post some after reading this (hint hint).

Well that's all for now. Look out for more of my favorites in the near future.
